About Us Independent Energy Consultants, Inc. (IEC) is an experienced independent energy service company that specializes in helping local municipalities to create and manage electric and natural gas Municipal Aggregation Programs. IEC works with Commercial and Industrial customers to create and manage natural gas and electric contracts, as well as to develop and implement Energy Efficiency Programs. IEC's mission is to continually provide the highest quality energy services that will reduce our client's utility costs while protecting them from the risks inherent in the volatile energy markets. We achieve this through the following ways: Experience. Mark Burns is the founder of IEC and has been a leader in the energy industry for 25 years. Mr. Burns was a founder of a similar successful consulting business that designed, implemented and administered more than 30 municipal aggregation programs. His background includes providing Risk Management oversight to a $1 billion electric and gas trading operation. He has developed sophisticated pricing models for selling electricity in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland, and was also a Strategic Planning Manager for a utility company. Mr. Burns has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, a Master's in Business Administration, and a Senior Reactor Operator License from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Independence. IEC is an independently owned and operated broker and aggregator of electricity and natural gas. Because we are independent, we have access to all eligible energy companies. Instead of a "one-size-fits-all solution", we are able to customize your offer so you have the terms, service and price that meet your unique needs. Credibility. Mr. Burns was a chosen technical expert to speak during the Northeast Ohio Mayors Legislative Action Group's "Power to Choose" campaign involving six counties and 2.5 million people. The group later formed the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC), the largest electric aggregation group ever formed. Certification. IEC has been certified by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the Public Utilities Commission of Texas and licensed by the State Corporation Commission of Virginia. Many states, including Ohio, Texas and Virginia, do not require or offer licensing to those who provide energy consulting services. We at IEC, however, believe in going the "extra mile" to provide our clients the peace of mind that comes from passing the scrutiny of regulatory bodies.
